Groupimize is a Canvas-integrated instructional tool operated by Groupimize LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company. It helps instructors form optimized student groups and facilitate structured peer reviews within academic courses.
What Groupimize Does
Group Formation
Algorithmic optimization of student groups based on instructor-defined criteria and student survey responses — supporting diversity, similarity, or weighted combinations.
Peer Review
Structured peer evaluation on a letter-grade scale covering communication, ownership, contribution, respect, conflict resolution, and custom criteria.
Assessment Insights
Aggregated peer review metrics give instructors data-driven insights into individual contributions and team collaboration.
How It Works
Groupimize is accessed exclusively through Canvas via the LTI protocol. There are no standalone accounts or separate logins — your identity is established by your institution through Canvas.
Instructors create classes, configure survey questions, and define grouping criteria. Students complete surveys, and the algorithm forms balanced groups. After group work, students submit peer reviews that contribute to assessment insights.
Groupimize is designed to supplement, not replace, instructor judgment. All final academic decisions remain with the instructor and the institution.
Privacy & FERPA Compliance
We collect only the minimum data necessary for educational functionality. Survey and demographic data is permanently deleted when a course is finalized. We do not sell, rent, or share student data with third parties.
